Throughout the course of your life there is a good possibility that you will one day have lower back pain. People who are constantly using their back will probably notice their lower back as the first thing to go. The most common type of severe lower back pain that people experience is simple low back pain. Roughly 19 in 20 people who complain about pain in their back suffer from simple pain. The remaining people who suffer from pain usually have an underlying condition that causes their back to hurt.
Before dealing with the cause of your back pain, it is important to understand how your back works. The lower back is mostly made up of different muscles that attach to and around your spine. Your spine is made up of different bones called vertebrae. Vertebrae are circular looking bones that have discs that lie between them. These discs are strong tissues that allow the spine to have flexibility and movement. Attached to your vertebrae are strong ligaments that help give you support and strength to your spine. Different muscles are attached to your spine to help give it flexibility and movement.
Most people who complain about having a back pain problem often have simple low back pain. Simple back problems are good because it means that the problem is not cause by any underlying issues that may be affecting your back. Some people may have pain as the result of an over-stretch or sprain of a ligament or muscle. This can be caused from lifting something that is too heavy or constantly bending over.
Having simple lower back pain does not mean that the pain is mild. In fact, the pain can often be excruciating and still be a simple injury. In most cases the pain starts in the lower back, but can sometimes spread to the thighs or buttocks. Lying down can usually help to reduce some of the pain that you experience. This pain can often be made worse if you have bad posture, cough or even sneeze. Many people consider simple pain to be “mechanical” because the pain will often vary according to your posture and exercise.
Most people who have simple back pain can treat themselves. Usually pain killers can often give relieve to people who are struggling the severe pain in their back. Bouts of back simple back pain can often be greatly eased over time. Depending on the type of injury you have, it can take between 3-4 weeks for your back to start feeling better.
It is important that you try and become active when you have an injured back. Lying around in bed for days will not help the healing process of your back. By being lightly active you can help with the healing process. Although it is good to be active, you should make sure that you don’t overdo yourself. Don’t do any exercise that you feel hurts your back.
If you think you have severe lower back pain that is caused from an underlying issue it is best to consult a medical professional. A doctor will be able to give you an x-ray examination to determine whether or not your back injury may be caused from a disc that may be out of place. Symptoms of underlying back pain can often include sharp pain that shoots up and down your leg. Sometimes nerves are being pinched, which often cause a lot of pain in the back.
